Newest World Champion Public Speaker – Verity Price

With an inspiring speech titled, “A Great Read,” Verity Price, a 46-year-old professional speaker and facilitator from Cape Town, South Africa, won the Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking on Saturday, Aug. 28.”
I eagerly watched her as she gave her final speech in the International Speaking Contest and I too felt it was a winning speech. My sister agreed and we hoped that she would come out as the newest Champion.
There were a number of great speeches throughout the contest and I was certainly glad I was not one of the judges. The second and third place winners also presented wonderful speeches.
To become a better speaker, Price offers five pieces of advice.
Be clear on the message you want to get across
Spend time structuring your speech
Find your natural speaking voice
Remember the audience
Practice, practice, practice!
