Today I began working on my Day 9 project for the ShutUpAndWriteathon. Yes, a few days late, but Stella told us we were allowed to not show up, to write what and when we wanted and to not beat ourselves up. I was/am committed to complete the entire 10 days, so today I sat down and wrote.
Each day we were given prompts that we could follow, or not. Today’s prompts were:
“In the fight with your mean wolf, what has been the most helpful for you? What hasn’t been helpful? What are 3 new disciplines or instructions you have for yourself when it comes to your writing going forward?
Here is my response/writing for this Day 9 activity.
I managed to work through the first 8 days of SUAW, but then my old enemy, PROCRASTINATION, came by and persuaded me that I had other things to do first and then I could get at my writing. I think he is my true mean wolf, the one who keeps me from doing what I need to do to move my business forward – may shadow wolf – my ego wolf – the one who says “it doesn’t really matter, what difference will it make if you don’t do it?”
Well Mr. Shadow Wolf, it makes a big difference! 1 in how I feel about myself, 2 in how I can help others 3 in how I will move forward in my business.
I did a Time Management workshop for a group of young people yesterday and we discussed procrastination and how it can have a detrimental impact on our lives. We talked about Brian Tracy’s idea of eating a frog, not a literal frog, but tackling the most difficult problem first instead of letting it sit on your shoulder all day nagging in your ear. I told them about something I read years ago about writing a list at the end of the day of 6 things to do the next day and asking yourself this question; “What is the one thing that I can do, that I don’t want to do, that will move my business or personal life forward?”
I realize this is a question I need to start asking myself again on a daily basis and then write down the answer. That way I can hold myself more accountable and it doesn’t become just a thought. It becomes more real and it will get accomplished.
I recently joined the Power Manifesting group and it’s tough. It’s a challenge to become more! To look at what I really want and to find ways to grow in that direction by manifesting what is already around me. One of the things I wanted was “more money” and I got a coupon for a free burger and also found a $2 coin. Also my boyfriend gave me $20 – value over $25 in just a couple of days. Oh yes, and I did that workshop which will give me another $150.00.
One of the other things I want/need is more “me” time. Time for me to discover more about who I am and what I want, as well as how to get it. I have manifested many good things already and am looking to see what happens.
Next step – make a cup of coffee and read an e-book “Stronger Than Circumstances” by Mary Morrisey. When I’m done I will post this article to my blog where it will hopefully encourage others.
Well, my 10 minute timer went off a little while ago, so I will close for now.
To your speaking/writing success

P.P.S. Holy cow…talk about manifesting – that e-book was a reinforcement of what I am learning in Power Manifesting and there were some points that really spoke to me. I will leave you with this one piece and I will write more tomorrow. I choose to serve the part of me that wants to go forward, to experience life to its fullest and I choose to move confidently in the direction of my dream.
