New Year Resolutions


It’s that time again…time for New Year Resolutions.  Have you made any?

Do you make the usual resolutions that most people make…to lose weight, get in better shape, get more exercise, read more, spend less, get more involved with other people…??  And how do you do with your resolutions?  Do you keep them?  For how long?

    • Eat Healthier and Diet
    • Get Out of Debt and Save Money
    • Spend More Time with Family
    • Travel to New Places
    • Be Less Stressed
    • Volunteer
    • Drink Less

Maybe it is time to set specific goals rather than make general resolutions.  For instance, “I will attend the gym 3 times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, starting tomorrow”.  Make sure that you have the equipment needed – exercise clothes, running shoes, and perhaps a fitness buddy.  It’s easy to make an excuse not to go if you don’t have the equipment.

With regards to getting out of debt and saving money…(somehow this one often comes up after we have overspent at Christmastime)…set a plan to put aside $100 per month for gifts and $100 per month for paying down debt and then savings.  Look into some good books on reducing debt.  Plan for a simpler Christmas – with getting together as the focus – not the presents.

Begin the new year with a healthier lifestyle, taking time to look at what you are eating and how you are eating and how you can improve.   There are wonderful cookbooks online and there are many easy, healthy recipes you can make.  Take some time on a Sunday to plan your menu for the week, then go shopping to make sure you have all the ingredients you need.

Be extraordinary

These three tips can get you started.  Don’t try to do too many new things at once or you can set yourself up for failure.  Make 2018 your best year ever.
