Stretching Yourself

Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zonehttps://www.lpamm.com/amember/aff/go/franlwats?i=113

Recently I decided to participate in a challenge that was designed to help people step out of their comfort zones in a number of different ways.

There were 21 challenges from Activating Google Analytics (Challenge #1 and one that I decided to tackle) to Hosting a Virtual Summit or Participating in a Bundle Sale or Giveaway or even create a TikTok of Twitch account.  Those of us who signed up could choose 1 or all of the challenges to complete during the month of September.

We were given opportunities to attend live training (or watch it as a replay), to join with others in discussion of the challenges, to congratulate those who finished them and give support to those who were stuck.

Initially I thought I might take on 3 challenges as this was my first year and I had heard of others who had participated in the past taking on a few challenges.  I thought I would do the Analytics, then go on to do a “Content Refresh” and then “Create a Small & Mighty Gift Report”.  I also considered Volunteering or Applying to Speak, Participating in a Bundle Sale and Creating a Tripwire offer.  However, I found myself challenged by the Google Analytics and am still working on that.

Have you ever found yourself wanting to challenge yourself in some way?

Have you found yourself afraid to reach out to groups to volunteer to speak on a particular topic, or to seek paid opportunities?

Do you have a blog where you highlight your expertise?  (That is challenge #2 by the way)

What about holding a webinar to share your knowledge?  (Challenge #6)

Although the initial “live” invitation is over, you can still get a copy of the SYC (Stretch Yourself Challenge) in a Self-Study version so that you can tackle the challenges on your own.  However, you are not completely on your own as you can join the forum and chat with other who are taking on the same challenges.  You can reach out to some of the people who are organizing Mini Summits and offer to be a speaker.  You can start your own Facebook group if you don’t already have one.

Now if you are wondering about how to get this amazing book, wonder no more.  Just click on this link

Wondering how successful this challenge is?  Kelly McCausey’s Stretch Yourself Challenge is celebrating a 11th Anniversary in 2020.

Why do I recommend Kelly’s Stretch Yourself Challenge?  Because the Challenge is focused on Content Marketing Activities that will stretch you out of your comfort zone and help you reach more of the people you long to serve.

Why not join me and the many others who are stretching ourselves this year.

Fran Watson

P.S.  I highly recommend Stretch Yourself Challenge

  1. I hope you got Google Analytics figured out and can move on to your next challenge!
So excited you are part of the Stretch Yourself Challenge – you’ve got this!

PS We can continue to challenge each other after it’s done – let me know if you are interested 🙂

  2. I like hearing about all the challenges you hope to accomplish! Slow and steady progress , tortoise-style, will eventually win, but I like the excitement of the start. It is nice to know that you can still keep working towards goals after the month is up, and get support too.

  3. Fran, I am so glad for you that you took the plunge to join the SYC. Hope you get through the Google Analytics soon because I’m anxious to read your “Small & Mighty Gift Report” where you will (hopefully) share your Speaking expertise!

  4. Fran,

You’ve scared me now, lol. I tackled and completed Challenge #16, and was thinking Challenge #1 would be easy. Now I’m not so sure, so maybe I should have a backup plan! Lol. Good for you for tackling more than one!

  5. Greetings, Fran from a fellow DTM! Kudos to you for stepping up to the challenge. Taking the first step is often the most difficult one. I applaud you for sticking with your first challenge until you were successful. You are a finisher and you have definitely risen to the challenge! Keep going!

  6. Fran, I see this is your first year doing the challenge. I’m glad you’re working on the Google Analytics challenge. It will really help you with foundational things for your website that will serve you for years to come. Like you, I’m glad I joined the SYC because it’s definitely a life and business changer!

    1. Hi Tara

I hope you are doing well. I miss seeing you, but I am getting your emails.
I have not done anything with the Google Analytics since the challenge.
I actually have not done a lot of things I intended to get done, but am trying to get back into the swing of things.
Still visiting with my mom on a daily basis, so that takes about 3 or so hours out of my available time.

      Take care
      Fran

  7. I too have found myself fearful of taking on new challenges. It’s been wonderful seeing you stretch yourself with the challenges. I too am working on the Google analytics as a secondary challenge. You got this so keep on stretching, Fran.

    1. Hi Lynn

How are you doing. I have not been a part of Kelly’s group since January as I had so many other things going on.
Sometimes I feel a little more lost and I do miss seeing everyone. I haven’t been to the forum for a while either.
Hope all is well with you.

      Fran

  8. So good to see you tackling these challenges, Fran! I also stretched to install Google Analytics on a brand new website this month and thought it would be a piece of cake. NOT! I discovered a WordPress plug-in that helps–Google Site Kit. Once I had signed up for the Google Analytics account, activating this plug-in made it so easy to get the code installed. And you can actually see all the analytics on your website, too!

The Stretch Yourself Challenge is such a great way to stretch a lot or a little. You’re doing great and can’t wait to congratulate you as a #Finisher at the end of the month!

    1. Hi Melissa

I confess that once the challenge ended, so did my work with Google Analytics. I am going to go and check out that Google Site Kit you mentioned. Maybe that will get me back on track.

  9. Setting up Google Analytics can be challenging. I encountered some bumps while completing the challenge. What’s a related challenge after the set up though is getting back to and making use of the analytics, which I have yet to do. There are still 10 days left and more can still be accomplished. I’m cheering for you! Go, Fran!

  10. Stepping out of our comfort zone is essential for achieving success. I guess first-timers, like us, tend to be over-zealous. I listed 9 of the challenges I had an interest to complete and from that I committed to completing 4. I discovered that was ambitious. I’m confident you’ll finish setting up Google Analytics and completing the other challenges in the future. Stepping out of your comfort zone is going to become your new habit. Continued success.

    1. Hi Adalia

Thanks so much for your comments last fall.
Much has changed in my life since then and I am continuing to work on the challenges I am facing with my aging mother and my new grandkids. Google analytics has taken a back seat as has much of what I was working on.

I hope that you are doing well.

      Fran

  11. I am personally so thrilled to see you stretching and working – what you’ve always been doing, but others get to see it too! I know so many of the challenges can tie in to your experience in speaking and more – and will give you fodder throughout the year. Way to go!!

    1. Hey Jennifer

Thanks so much for your kind words. You have been, and still are, one of my best teachers.
I am so glad to have met you and benefited a lot from our connection.
Despite the fact that I am still not a dedicated Trello user, OI have learned a lot from your trainings.

      Fran

  12. I love how you talk about how enthusiasm for the stretch lead you to choose several of the challenges and how you found one to be more time-consuming than you expected. That’s all part of it. The act of stretching teaches us – more than anything else can – that a setback or an obstacle doesn’t stop us, it just changes the timeline. Well done!

  13. I was really lucky! Kelly had me install Google Analytics last year. But, I will say the manual that comes with the course is something that I use year-round. It is very valuable.

    1. Hi Luanna

I am going to have to try to find the manual for Google Analytics because it is still not something I am comfortable with or check very often. (I was never really good with Math or Statistics….LOL)

      Fran

  14. Hi Fran! I love getting to drop in to your “home” on the web. What a treat! I love your enthusiasm. I know that this month you are going to make yourself so proud. I am excited to be on the journey with you. Cheering you on! 🙂

  15. It’s fun to step outside of the comfort zone in the community and to have such supportive people to help! I hope you got Google Analytics figured out now and set up for your website and hope that you reach the other goals you set for yourself too!

  16. Oh wow, Fran – you were planning a lot of challenges! This is my first year and I only chose one, but I MIGHT get two in. I was scared enough just joining the community, but boy was that the best decision I ever made! I really like that you offer some suggestions of which challenges (and how) we can tackle in the self study.

  17. Make sure you reach out to the group if you hit roadblocks, you don’t have to muddle through alone 🙂

It gets difficult not to pick too many challenges at once. They could all help us so much! It will be fun to continue to stretch past September and share our experiences.

  18. This is my second year and I’m focused on one challenge as well. I don’t know how people focus on many more than that, honestly! lol Awesome job, and I’m sure you’ll wrangle that Google Analytics soon enough … come ask the group for help if you need it!

  19. You listed a few ideal reasons to join the SYC, Fran, and I completely agree! Anyone that has a business or operates online should take sign up for the Self Study course – no need to wait another year to get in live.
